Combined toxicity of endocrine-disrupting chemicals: A review

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
The combined toxicological assessment provides a realistic approach for hazard evaluation of chemical cocktails that co-existed in the environment.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Epigenetic Mechanisms of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals in Obesity

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2021
The incidence of obesity has dramatically increased over the last decades. Recently, there has been a growing interest in the possible association between the pandemics of obesity and some endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), termed “obesogens”.

Epigenetic reprogramming of lineage switching in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer cells rarely commit to a single identity. Epigenetic mechanisms and tumor microenvironment cues push epithelial cells toward flexible, hybrid states that can shift into mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, or stem‐like fates, driving metastasis, drug resistance, and tumor heterogeneity. Targeting the epigenetic regulators behind these transitions, using

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Development and validation of a survey on reproductive health behaviors to reduce exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals in Koreans

open access: yesFrontiers in Reproductive Health
IntroductionRecently, issues related to climate change and endocrine-disrupting chemicals have come to the forefront. In particular, the pursuit of convenience has led to increased exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals in daily life, posing threats ...

Influence of Endogenous and Exogenous Estrogenic Endocrine on Intestinal Microbiota in Zebrafish.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Gender is one of the factors influencing the intestinal microbial composition in mammals, but whether fish also have gender-specific intestinal microbial patterns remains unknown. In this decade, endocrine disrupting chemicals in surface and ground water

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals: Science and Policy

open access: yesPolicy Insights from the Behavioral and Brain Sciences, 2023
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are chemicals that disrupt the normal functioning of endocrine system hormones, leading to a range of adverse health effects in humans and wildlife. Exposure to EDCs is ubiquitous and occurs through contaminated food and water, air, consumer products, and transfer from parents to offspring. Effective regulation has
