Endonucleases

Plant Molecular Biology, 2000
Programmed cell death (PCD) involves hydrolysis of genomic DNA, which must be catalyzed by endonuclease(s) capable of digesting dsDNA. Plants have two major classes of endonucleases active towards dsDNA, Zn2+-dependent endonuclease and Ca2+-dependent endonuclease.

Endonucleases

Current Protocols in Molecular Biology, 1989
AbstractReaction conditions for numerous ensonucleases are detailed in this unit along with discussions of potential applications. Specific enzymes include BAL 31 nuclease, S1 nuclease, mung bean nuclease, micrococcal nuclease and DNase I.

Restriction Endonuclease

CRC Critical Reviews in Biochemistry, 1976
This review provides a comprehensive account of the current status of the biology and biochemistry of restriction endonucleases. Both Class I and Class II restriction endonucleases will be considered. However, emphasis will be placed on the Class II group, which recognizes and cleaves a specific duplex DNA sequence.

A mammalian nicking endonuclease

Biochemistry, 1976
Purification and properties are described for an endonuclease isolated from calf thymus which attacks double-stranded, unmodified DNA, primarily by making single-strand breaks. No detectable acid-soluble products arise from the reaction. Double-strand breaks may occasionally be produced by the introduction of single-strand breaks on opposite strands in

A homing endonuclease with a switch: Characterization of a twintron encoded homing endonuclease

Fungal Genetics and Biology, 2014
The small ribosomal subunit gene residing in the mitochondrial DNA of the thermophilic fungus Chaetomium thermophilum var. thermophilum La Touche DSM 1495 is interrupted by a twintron at position mS1247. The mS1247 twintron represents the first mixed twintron found in fungal mtDNA, composed of an external group I intron encoding a LAGLIDADG open ...

Endonuclease of T4 ghosts

Virology, 1977
Abstract An endonuclease was found to associate with purified T4 particles. Its activity was low with intact phages but became distinct when phage particles were disrupted by osmotic shock, and more distinct when they were disassembled by guanidine.

Restriction endonucleases or the site-specific DNA endonucleases.

Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1980
Our present view of the site-specific endonucleases, which appear to be ubiquituous in the prokaryote kingdom, is probably heavily distorted by our search for tools for recombinant DNA technology. Only those enzymes having recognition sequences in the range of three to seven specific bases have been isolated.

The Use of Restriction Endonucleases

2003
The discovery of the mode of action of the class of bacterial enzymes known as restriction endonucleases provided the major breakthrough in opening up the field of genetic engineering. In vivo, these enzymes are involved in recognizing and cutting up foreign DNA entering the cell; their most likely role is thus protecting the bacteria against phage ...

Site-specific endonuclease NspLKI is an isoschizomer of endonuclease HaeIII.

Biochemistry. Biokhimiia, 1999
Site-specific endonuclease NspLKI has been isolated and purified to functionally pure state from soil bacterium Nocardia species LK by successive chromatography on columns with phosphocellulose, HTP hydroxyapatite, and heparin-Sepharose. The isolated enzyme recognizes the 5'-GG downward arrowCC-3' sequence on DNA and cleaves it as indicated by the ...
