Engineering a novel endopeptidase based on SARS 3CLpro
A 3C-like protease (3CLpro) from the severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus (SARS-CoV) is required for viral replication, cleaving the replicase polyproteins at 11 sites with the conserved Gln↓(Ser, Ala, Gly) sequences. In this study, we developed

The hydrolytic and cost efficiencies of five endopeptidases (Alcalase 2.4L, Corolase 7089, Neutrase 0.8L, Promod 671L and Protex 7L) to hydrolyze Atlantic salmon by-products were compared at standardized activity levels based on a casein assay.

Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Activity Gel Analysis of Endopeptidases in Rose Petals
Poor resolution for the identification of endopeptidase (EP) activity in activity gel assays is a critical issue in the analysis of the postharvest physiology of rose petals. In this paper, major factors influencing EP activity gel assays were evaluated.

The study of a new and specific proline cleaving peptidase from bovine serum [PDF]
Prolyl oligopeptidase is a serine peptidase characterised by oligoendopeptidase activity. Definitive evidence for the discrete biological role of prolyl oligopeptidase remains unknown, though its role in the maturation and degradation of peptide hormones

Changes in the endopeptidase pattern of wheat leaves during senescence
Peptide hydrolase activities present in young and senescing flag leaves of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were fractionated on DEAE-cellulose columns. Part of the endopeptidase activity was not bound to DEAE-cellulose at pH 7.5 (peak I) and had a broad pH ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Identification of Fibrinolytic Activity in Iranian Vipera Lebetina Venom
Background and purpose: Vipera lebetina lives in different areas in Iran, and its venom contains a variety of proteins with coagulant and anticoagulant activities. Fibrinolytic enzymes could have a therapeutic role in dissolution of blood clots, so, this

Metallopeptidases of Toxoplasma gondii: in silico identification and gene expression
Metallopeptidases are a family of proteins with domains that remain highly conserved throughout evolution. These hydrolases require divalent metal cation(s) to activate the water molecule in order to carry out their catalytic action on peptide bonds by ...
