pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Exploring the effect of kraft lignin on the stability and decomposition kinetics of nitrated cellulose carbamate

open access: yesFirePhysChem
This study systematically investigated the stability and thermo-kinetic properties of a high-energy-density nitrated cellulose carbamate (NCC) system stabilized with Kraft lignin.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Rare Helium-Bearing Compound FeO2He Stabilized at Deep-Earth Conditions

open access: yes, 2018
There is compelling geochemical evidence for primordial helium trapped in Earth’s lower mantle, but the origin and nature of the helium source remain elusive due to scarce knowledge on viable helium-bearing compounds that are extremely rare.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Enhancing accuracy in equivalent in-service-time assessment for homogeneous solid propellants: A novel temperature-independent predictive model utilizing PCA of FTIR data

open access: yesFirePhysChem
The present study was devoted to setting a universal T-independent predictive model of equivalent in-service-time (EIST) for homogenous solid propellant (HSP) to surpass the limits of the van't Hoff law particularly when high aging temperatures and/or ...

Polynigrogen Energetic Materials

open access: yesJournal of the Korea Institute of Military Science and Technology, 2016
ABSTRACT Current research trends of prediction of possible structures, synthesis and explosive characteristics of polynitrogen molecules(PNs) are reviewed. Theoretically PNs are composed only of nitrogen atoms, in which N-N bonds are either single or double bonds, and thus when these molecules decompose, release of enormous energy is accompanied.
