Emotional design engineering for packaging of olive oil using machine learning techniques
Consumer behaviour, and therefore purchase intentions, are affected by the visual elements of packaging. This is particularly important for products in the agri-food sector, especially for olive oil.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Enhanced Henry Gas Solubility Optimization for Solving Data and Engineering Design Problems
Many engineering design problems are formulated as constrained optimization tasks that are nonlinear and nonconvex, and often treated as black boxes. In such cases, metaheuristic algorithms are attractive because they can search complex design spaces ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A Multi-Strategy Improved Honey Badger Algorithm for Engineering Design Problems
A multi-strategy improved honey badger algorithm (MIHBA) is proposed to address the problem that the honey badger algorithm may fall into local optimum and premature convergence when dealing with complex optimization problems.

Design for Values in Engineering
Values have probably always played a role in engineering design. However, in current practices and design methods, the attention for values in engineering design tends to be implicit and unsystematic. Establishing Design for Values in engineering would require overcoming this situation.

Perception of Complexity in Engineering Design
This paper evaluates perception of complexity in a novel explanatory model that relates product performance and engineering effort. Complexity is an intermediate factor with two facets: it enables desired product performance but also requires effort to achieve.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
