Further Results on Permutation Polynomials over Finite Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Permutation polynomials are an interesting subject of mathematics and have applications in other areas of mathematics and engineering. In this paper, we develop general theorems on permutation polynomials over finite fields.

ECNet is an evolutionary context-integrated deep learning framework for protein engineering

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Protein engineering is an active area of research in which machine learning has proven quite powerful. Here, the authors present a deep learning method that integrates both general and protein-specific sequence representations to improve the engineering ...

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

The mathematical components of engineering expertise: the relationship between doing and understanding mathematics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
this paper are extracts from our interviews with engineers.) Where, then, is the complex mathematics that certainly exists in modern engineering? Throughout all aspects of engineering design, computer software has an overwhelming presence.

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

A general Fc engineering platform for the next generation of antibody therapeutics

open access: yesTheranostics, 2021
Rationale: Fc engineering has become the focus of antibody drug development. The current mutagenesis and in silico protein design methods are confined by the limited throughput and high cost, while the high-throughput phage display and yeast display technologies are not suitable for screening glycosylated Fc variants. Here we developed a mammalian cell

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...
