Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

This paper aims to design a compact manipulator system consisting of a 6 degree-of-freedom (dof) manipulator and a 1-dof rotary table. It proposes a new compactness measure that considers manipulator swept volume or the space occupied by the system while

Evaluation of sequential, multi-objective, and parallel interactive genetic algorithms for multi-objective optimization problems. [PDF]
We propose a sequential interactive genetic algorithm (IGA), multi-objective IGA and parallel IGA, and evaluate them with both simulated and real users.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Heuristic algorithms for a delivery workload balancing problem in an assembly plant
In this paper, a delivery workload balancing problem in an assembly plant is considered. The problem is first described as a special case of the unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem of minimizing the makespan.
