Leucine-enkephalin metabolism in brain microvessel endothelial cells

Peptides, 1994
The metabolism of leucine-enkephalin was investigated in primary cultures of bovine brain microvessel endothelial cell (BMEC) monolayers. Leucine-enkephalin was hydrolyzed slowly with less than 40% of the peptide metabolized following a 5-h incubation with intact BMEC monolayers at 37 degrees C.

Trauma Decreases Leucine Enkephalin Hydrolysis in Human Plasma

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1999
Plasma hydrolysis of leucine enkephalin was evaluated, together with several cellular immune parameters, in a homogeneous group of human subjects who had undergone severe trauma (proximal femur fracture); data obtained were compared with those obtained in an age-matched control group.

Seizures induced by carbachol, morphine, and leucine‐enkephalin: A comparison

Annals of Neurology, 1983
AbstractThe electrical, behavioral, and pharmacological properties of seizures induced by morphine, leucine‐enkephalin, and the muscarinic cholinergic agonist carbachol were examined and compared. Low‐dose carbachol given intracerebroventricularly (ICV) produced seizures similar electrically to those produced by ICV morphine and leucineenkephalin ...

Endogenous Signaling Complexity in Neuropeptides- Leucine- and Methionine-Enkephalin

Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, 2006
1. In addition to his many fine contributions in furthering our understanding of the neurochemical action of ecosanoids, catchelomines, steroids, anandamines, cannabinoids, endorphins, and the many modifications made to these neural factors, twenty years ago Julius Axelrod published a noteworthy paper concerning the nature of neuropeptides and their ...
