Determination of Methionine-Enkephalin and Leucine-Enkephalin in Human Cerebrospinal Fluid
1983Abstract Commercially available radio immunoassay kits were used to find out the concentrations of met-enkephalin and leu-enkephalin in the human concentrated CSF samples in the presence of seven proteinase inhibitors. Reference values were established for lumbar CSF. No correlation was found between total protein content and both enkephalins in CSF.

Neuroscience Letters, 1978
Abstract The responses of neurons to iontophoretic application of methionine-enkephalin and leucine-enkephalin were tested in the tuberal hypothalamus of the guinea-pig. Both spontaneously active and ‘silent’ units activated by glutamate were investigated. Thirty-six percent of the total population of neurons tested were inhibited by these compounds.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of leucine enkephalin turn mimetics
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2006A cyclic Leu-enkephalin mimetic containing a 7-membered ring, and two linear analogues, has been prepared on solid phase. In the cyclic mimetic the intramolecular (1-4) hydrogen bond found in crystalline Leu-enkephalin has been replaced by an ethylene bridge.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for leucine and methionine enkephalins
Analytical Biochemistry, 1983An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for enkephalins was developed by coupling the peptides to a carrier molecule (bovine serum albumin) in order to allow the antibody-antigen reaction to take place in the solid phase. The assay was shown to be highly reproducible.

Distribution of leucine-enkephalin in bone and joint tissues
Neuropeptides, 2002The distribution and concentration of leu-enkephalin in periosteum, cortical bone, bone marrow and synovial membrane of normal rats were analysed. Periosteum, cortical bone and bone marrow of the rat femurs were collected as well as the ankles. The distribution of leu-enkephalin was analysed by immunoelectron microscopy and the concentration of leu ...

Leucine enkephalin degradation in allergopathic versus normal human plasma
Immunopharmacology, 1998The enzyme hydrolysis of labelled leu-enkephalin in the presence of plasma enzymes was studied by kinetic and chromatographic techniques in a group of allergopathic patients in the acute and quiescent stage; data obtained have been compared with those obtained with normal controls.

Endogenous Signaling Complexity in Neuropeptides- Leucine- and Methionine-Enkephalin
Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, 20061. In addition to his many fine contributions in furthering our understanding of the neurochemical action of ecosanoids, catchelomines, steroids, anandamines, cannabinoids, endorphins, and the many modifications made to these neural factors, twenty years ago Julius Axelrod published a noteworthy paper concerning the nature of neuropeptides and their ...
