Distribution of leucine-enkephalin in bone and joint tissues

Neuropeptides, 2002
The distribution and concentration of leu-enkephalin in periosteum, cortical bone, bone marrow and synovial membrane of normal rats were analysed. Periosteum, cortical bone and bone marrow of the rat femurs were collected as well as the ankles. The distribution of leu-enkephalin was analysed by immunoelectron microscopy and the concentration of leu ...

SYNTHESIS OF CHROMOPHORIC DEHYDRO ANALOG OF LEUCINE ENKEPHALIN

International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1981
Dehydropeptides incorporating a highly colored group have been prepared by reacting peptide esters with 4‐(4′‐dimethyl‐amino‐3′‐nitro) benzylidene‐2‐phenyloxazolin‐5‐one. This method allows a rapid synthesis of colored analogs of physiologically important peptides, in this case, leucine enkephalin.

A conformational analysis of leucine enkephalin as a function of pH

Biopolymers, 2002
AbstractThe conformations of Leu enkephalin in aqueous solution have been investigated as a function of pH using molecular dynamics simulations. The simulations suggest the peptide backbone exists as a mixture of folded and unfolded forms (approximately 50% each) at neutral pH, but is always unfolded at low or high pH.

Glycation of Leucine-Enkephalin: Imidazolidinones and Amadori Compounds

2001
In an effort to elucidate the properties and reactivity of the parent free sugars, herein we present the formation of leucine-enkephalin related imidazolidinones, as well as Amadori compounds from glucose, mannose or galactose and leucine-enkephalin. We will present the influence of solvent , temperature and added base on the rate of formation of these

Methionine-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin, methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7 and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8 in human pheochromocytoma

Life Sciences, 1983
Methionine-enkephalin(met-enkephalin)-, leucine-enkephalin(leu-enkephalin)-, methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Phe7(met-enkephalin-Arg-Phe)- and methionine-enkephalin-Arg6-Gly7-Leu8(met-enkephalin-Arg-Gly-Leu)-like immunoreactivities(-LI) were studied in 16 pheochromocytomas by radioimmunoassays (RIAs) for these four opioid peptides. Met-enkephalin-Arg-Phe-LI

Secondary ion mass spectra of the neuropeptides leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin

Biological Mass Spectrometry, 1982
Positive and negative secondary ion mass spectra obtained by bombardment of thin films of leucine-enkephalin and methionine-enkephalin with a pulsed beam of Cs+ ions of energy 5–15 keV were recorded using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Many of the secondary ions are metastable.

Intraventricular self-administration of leucine-enkephalin by laboratory rats

Life Sciences, 1982
Naive laboratory rats, without pre-exposure to operant training procedures or to opioids, were shown to self-administer directly into their cerebral ventricles the endogenous opiate peptide, leucine-enkephalin. They were shown to self-administer the peptide consistently for six consecutive days with no indication of the development of tolerance.

The effects of methionine- and leucine-enkephalin on spinal neurones of the cat

Brain Research, 1979
Extra- and intracellular recordings were obtained from physiologically identified, spinal neurones in the 6th and 7th lumbar segments of the pentobarbitone-anaesthetized cat. Microiontophoretically applied methionine- and leucine-enkephalin reversibly inhibited the spontaneous, synaptically induced, and L-glutamate-induced activity in the majority of ...

Leucine-enkephalin: Reversal of intrinsic cardiovascular stimulation by pentobarbital

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1982
In the conscious, chronically instrumented dog, leucine-enkephalin ([Leu5]ENK), 35 micrograms/kg injected intravenously, increased heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic and diastolic systemic arterial pressures, mean pulmonary arterial pressure, and cardiac output. After pentobarbital-induced anesthesia, the same dose of [Leu5]ENK decreased heart rate,

Brain methionine- and leucine-enkephalin receptors in patients with dementia

Neuroscience Letters, 1993
Brain [3H]Met- and [3H]Leu-enkephalin binding was studied in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VD), and in age-matched controls. Brain areas investigated were the internal and external globus pallidus, amygdala, hippocampus and temporal cortex.
