Development of a double-recombinant antibody sandwich ELISA for quantitative detection of epsilon toxoid concentration in inactivated Clostridium perfringens vaccines

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2020
Background Epsilon toxin (ETX) causes a commonly fatal enterotoxemia in domestic animals. Also, ETX causes serious economic losses to animal husbandry. In this study, we selected several clones against ETX using repertoires displayed on filamentous phage.

Beta Lactamase Producing Clostridium perfringens Bacteremia in an Elderly Man with Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
Clostridium perfringens bacteremia is associated with adverse outcomes. Known risk factors include chronic kidney disease, malignancy, diabetes mellitus, and gastrointestinal disease. We present a 74‐year‐old man admitted with confusion, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Focal symmetrical encephalomalacia in sheep Encefalomalacia focal simétrica em ovino

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2010
Focal symmetrical encephalomalacia (FSE) is the most prominent lesion seen in the chronic form of enterotoxemia by Clostridium perfringens type D. This paper reports FSE in sheep in Brazil. Six deaths occurred within a seven days period in a flock of 70,

Effects of Aflatoxin on Liver and Protective Effectiveness of Esterified Glucomannan in Merino Rams

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
The effects of total aflatoxin (AF) given orally on liver in Merino rams were studied. In addition, this study was conducted in order to evaluate the efficacy of an esterified glucomannan (EG) for protection against aflatoxicosis. One‐year‐old 32 Merino rams were divided into four equal groups.

Investigation of Fattening Performance, Slaughter, Carcass, and Some Meat Quality Characteristics of Imported Simmental, Charolaise, and Belgian Blue × Holstein F1 Bulls

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
Some countries sometimes import cattle to meet their meat demand. In this study, fattening performance, carcass, and some meat quality characteristics of imported Simmental, Charolais, and Belgian Blue × Holstein F1 bulls were evaluated. ABSTRACT This research was carried out to examine the fattening performance, slaughter, carcass, and some meat ...

Rapid, Simultaneous Detection of Clostridium sordellii and Clostridium perfringens in Archived Tissues by a Novel PCR‐Based Microsphere Assay: Diagnostic Implications for Pregnancy‐Associated Toxic Shock Syndrome Cases

open access: yesInfectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Clostridium sordellii and Clostridium perfringens are infrequent human pathogens; however, the case‐fatality rates for the infections are very high, particularly in obstetric C. sordellii infections (>90%). Deaths from Clostridium sordellii and Clostridium perfringens toxic shock (CTS) are sudden, and diagnosis is often challenging.

Persistence of maternal antibodies against goat pox virus in goat kids

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page 2801-2806, September/October 2024.
Abstract Background In goat kids, choosing the appropriate age to administer the first dose of goat pox disease (GTP) vaccine requires knowing when maternal antibody decline concentrations. Objective Determine the persistence of maternal antibodies against goat pox virus (GTPV) in goat kids.

Etiologic Agents and Diseases Found Associated with Clinical Aspergillosis in Falcons

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
The aim of this study was to describe parasitological, microbiological, and pathological findings associated with the isolation of Aspergillus species in 94 clinically diseased captive falcons from Dubai. Concomitant agents and/or diseases were identified in 64 cases, causing either single (n = 36) or multiple coinfections (n = 28).
