Entropy Production and Heat Generation in Computational Processes

open access: yes, 1999
To make clear several issues relating with the thermodynamics of computations, we perform a simulation of a binary device using a Langevin equation.

Streaming generalized cross entropy [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Computing, 2019
We propose a new method to combine adaptive processes with a class of entropy estimators for the case of streams of data. Starting from a first estimation obtained from a batch of initial data, model parameters are estimated at each step by combining the prior knowledge with the new observation (or a block of observations).

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Entropy Production during Asymptotically Safe Inflation

open access: yes, 2010
The Asymptotic Safety scenario predicts that the deep ultraviolet of Quantum Einstein Gravity is governed by a nontrivial renormalization group fixed point.

A Brief Review of Generalized Entropies [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
Entropy appears in many contexts (thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, information theory, measure-preserving dynamical systems, topological dynamics, etc.) as a measure of different properties (energy that cannot produce work, disorder, uncertainty, randomness, complexity, etc.). In this review, we focus on the so-called generalized entropies, which

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Analysis of Energy Utilization and Losses for Jet-Propelled Vehicles

open access: yesAerospace, 2021
The global control volume-based energy utilization balance for an aerospace vehicle is extended to allow for the analysis of jet-propelled vehicles.

Effects of a classical homogeneous gravitational field on the cavity-field entropy and generation of the Schrodinger-cat states in the Jaynes-Cummings model

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we examine the effects of the gravitational field on the dynamical evolution of the cavity-field entropy and the creation of the Schrodinger-cat state in the Jaynes-Cummings model.

The Concavity of Generalized Entropy Powers

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2022
In this note we introduce a new family of entropy powers which are related to generalized entropies, called Sharma-Mittal entropies, and we prove their concavity along diffusion processes generated by $L^2$-Wasserstein gradient flows of corresponding entropy functionals.
