Inhibitory effect of enzymatic browning products on trypsin activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this piece of work was to assay if the melanins synthesized from  Agaricus bisporus polyphenol oxidase and one of its main substrates (L-tyrosine) act as trypsininhibitors, and therefore may have a toxic effect on protein digestion.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

PDZK1‐ULK1 Axis Triggers Lipophagy to Inhibit Tumor Progression and Sunitinib Resistance in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that PDZK1 loss impairs ULK1‐mediated lipophagy, driving lipid droplet accumulation and sunitinib resistance in clear cell renal cell carcinoma. PDZK1 inhibits LEF1 nuclear translocation, enhancing ULK1 transcription. Pharmacological ULK1 activation resensitizes resistant tumors to sunitinib.

CRISPR/Cas9-Mediated Development of Potato Varieties with Long-Term Cold Storage and Bruising Resistance

open access: yesBiology
Enzymatic browning and cold-induced sweetening (CIS) affect the post-harvest quality of potato tubers. Browning is caused by polyphenol oxidase 2 (PPO2), which is activated by mechanical damage during harvest and storage.

The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

THE INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT VACUUM IMPREGNATION SOLUTIONS ON THE COLOUR OF FRESH-CUT APPLE SLICES

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2020
The present paper focuses on the colour changes of freshly peeled/sliced fruits by using vacuum-impregnation of the apple slices with freshly prepared fruit juice and their mixture with two types of honey with the role of inhibition of the enzymatic ...
