The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Liquid Hot Water Pre-treated Macro-alga (Ulva lactuca) for Fermentable Sugar Production

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Ulva lactuca is one of green macro-algae that has a significant cellulose content. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in substrate-enzyme ratio and hydrolysis time on the enzymatic hydrolysis process of cellulose extracted from Ulva ...

Cellobiose Enzyme Hydrolysis for Ideal Glucose Production

open access: yes, 2022
This project examined the effects of cellobiose concentration, enzyme loading and other parameters in enzyme hydrolysis to yield maximum glucose. HPLC techniques were used to analyze the results of the experimental samples.

Enzyme-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Lipids in Immiscible Microdroplets Studied by Contained-Electrospray Ionization

open access: yes, 2021
Enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of lipids was monitored directly in immiscible microdroplet environments using contained-electrospray mass spectrometry. Aqueous solution of the lipase enzyme from Pseudomonas cepacia and the chloroform solution of the lipids ...

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Hydrolysis of Bradykinin by Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1974
Two dipeptides, phenylalanylarginine (Phe-Arg) and serylproline (Ser-Pro), are released sequentially from bradykinin by angiotensin-converting enzyme purified from hog lungs; chloride increases the rate of release of both dipeptides. Using an automated ninhydrin-reagent method, we studied the kinetics of bradykinin hydrolysis. The reaction

Is the enzymatic hydrolysis of soil organic phosphorus compounds limited by enzyme or substrate availability?

open access: yes, 2019
The mineralization of soil organic phosphorus (P) is catalysed by extracellular phosphatases that hydrolyse different non-phytate phosphomonoesters (e.g., sugar phosphates and nucleotides), inositol phosphates (e.g., phytic acids), and phosphodiesters (e.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Products of aminolysis and enzymic hydrolysis of the cephalosporins [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1970
1. The reaction of cephalosporins with ammonia, amino acids and other simple amino compounds in weakly alkaline aqueous solutions yields labile compounds with λmax. 230nm. The reaction of deacetyl- and deacetoxy-cephalosporins under similar conditions yields compounds with λmax. 260nm. 2.

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.
