New biscoumarin derivatives-cytotoxicity and enzyme inhibitory activities
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2006Biscoumarin derivatives 1-27 were tested for their inhibition of snake venom and human nucleotide pyrophosphatase phosphodiesterase-1 enzymes. Lineweaver-Burk and Dixon plots and their secondary replots showed that these compounds are pure non-competitive inhibitors of both the enzymes.

Synthesis and Enzyme Inhibitory Activities of Novel Peptide Isosteres
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2002Design and synthesis of metabolically stable peptide analogs that can either mimic or block the bioactivity of natural peptides or enzymes is an important constituent of bioorganic and medicinal chemistry research. Isosteric replacement of a scissile peptide bond represents a viable and popular approach in the rational design of peptidomimetics ...

Inhibitory activity of flavonols towards the xanthine oxidase enzyme
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1992Abstract The spectrophotometric methods of analysis adopted for the study of the inhibition of the enzyme, xanthine oxidase, are very different as regards the time required for the assay. With a view to studying the inhibitory effect of flavonoids, we examined the stability and the inhibitory activity of quercetin and myricetin in relation to ...

Inhibitory activities of Rubi Fructus on digestive enzymes
Food Science and Biotechnology, 2010Control of postprandial glucose level is important in the management of diabetes. Thus, carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes have been the targets to delay absorption of glucose. In this study, water extracts of Rubi Fructus (WERF) showed inhibition on both α-glucosidase from baker’s yeast and α-amylase from porcine pancreas.

Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Activities of Various Fermented Foods
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1995Angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE, E.C. 3.4.15.1) inhibitory activity were measured with 11 kinds (31 items) of fermented foods. Strong inhibitory activity was detected in soy sauce, fish sauce, natto, nyufu, and cheese, but not in mirin, sake, or vinegar.

Inhibitory Effects of Garcinia cambogia Extract on CYP2B6 Enzyme Activity
Planta Medica, 2017AbstractThis study assessed the inhibitory effects of Garcinia cambogia extract on the cytochrome P450 enzymes in vitro. G. cambogia extract was incubated with cytochrome P450 isozyme-specific substrates in human liver microsomes and recombinant CYP2B6 isozyme, and the formation of the marker metabolites was measured to investigate the inhibitory ...

Cyclopropenone-containing cysteine proteinase inhibitors. Synthesis and enzyme inhibitory activities
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1999By focusing on the amphiphilic properties of cyclopropenone (e.g. a good electrophile and a precursor for a stable 2pi-aromatic hydroxycyclopropenium cation), a new class of cysteine proteinase inhibitors containing a cyclopropenone moiety was designed.

Inhibitory Effects of Plant Phenols on the Activity of Selected Enzymes
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2002Selected enzymes (alpha-amylase, trypsin, and lysozyme) were allowed to react with some simple phenolic and related compounds (caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, ferulic acid, gallic acid, m-, o-, and p-dihydroxybenzenes, quinic acid, and p-benzoquinone). The derivatized enzymes obtained were characterized in terms of their activity.
