The actin cytoskeleton regulates the integrity and repair of epithelial barriers by mediating the assembly of tight junctions (TJs), and adherens junctions (AJs), and driving epithelial wound healing. Actin filaments undergo a constant turnover guided by

Tir Is Essential for the Recruitment of Tks5 to Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli Pedestals. [PDF]
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) is a bacterial pathogen that infects the epithelial lining of the small intestine and causes diarrhea. Upon attachment to the intestinal epithelium, EPEC uses a Type III Secretion System to inject its own high ...

WNT signaling regulates self-renewal and differentiation of prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics [PDF]
Prostate cancer cells with stem cell characteristics were identified in human prostate cancer cell lines by their ability to form from single cells self-renewing prostaspheres in non-adherent cultures.

Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

[Epithelial attachment and subperiosteal implants].
The case presented is a subperiosteal implantation in a human being, in chrome cobalt mollybdenum, with two years and a half of evolution. It has been studied from the morphological point of view on being extracted for the patient's request, because of a prosthetic maladjustment; the existence of a epitheliarl adhesion and the subjacen tissue reaction ...

Talin1 Promotes Prostate Cancer Invasion and Metastasis via AKT Signaling and Anoikis Resistance [PDF]
Talin1 is an integrin regulatory protein that mediates integrin interactions with the extracellular matrix (ECM). This study investigated the significance of talin1 in prostate cancer progression to metastasis in vitro and in vivo.

Mechanoregulatory Effects of Cell‐Scale Microwells on Epithelial Cell Phenotype
In small polycaprolactone microwells, A549 epithelial cells span well edges, in contrast to cells growing on flat substrates. Focal adhesion sites (yellow) concentrate at topographic boundaries, while cytoskeletal tension (magenta stress fibers) is transmitted to the nucleus (blue), reducing nuclear sphericity.
