Divinylglycol, a Glycerol-Based Monomer: Valorization, Properties, and Applications [PDF]
In the context of the development of bio-refineries, glycerol and its derivatives are co-products of the oleochemistry for which new valorization routes must be found. In this study, the polymerizability of divinylglycol (DVG), a symmetrical C-6 glycerol derivative which bears a vicinal diol and two vinyl functions was studied.

Surface decorated magnetite nanoparticles with birhodanine and MoO2Cl2(dmf)2 as a new magnetic catalyst for epoxidation of olefins [PDF]
In this work, the synthesis and characterization of a new magnetically supported Mo6+ complex have been reported as a catalyst for epoxidation of olefins. For this purpose, a new silylating compound containing a birhodanine moiety, i.e.

A Computational Investigation of the Catalytic Properties of Graphene Oxide: Exploring Mechanisms Using DFT Methods [PDF]
Here we describe a computational study undertaken in an effort to elucidate the reaction mechanisms behind the experimentally observed oxidations and hydrations catalyzed by graphene oxide (GO). Using the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde as a model reaction, density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that this reactivity stemmed ...

Lactose as an inexpensive starting material for the preparation of aldohexos-5-uloses: synthesis of L-ribo and D-lyxo derivatives [PDF]
SUMMARY: Partially protected derivatives of L-ribo- and D-lyxo-aldohexos-5-ulose have been prepared starting from triacetonlactose dimethyl acetal derivatives.

Chemical looping epoxidation of ethylene was demonstrated, whereby the sole oxidant was a solid oxygen carrier, 15 wt% Ag supported on SrFeO3. Ethylene reacted with a bed of carrier particles, without any O2(g) in the feed, to produce ethylene oxide (EO) and CO2.

Heterogenisation of ketone catalysts within mesoporous supports for asymmetric epoxidation
The synthesis of the first mesoporous silica (150 Å) anchored carbohydrate-derived chiral ketone is described. This new heterogeneous catalyst has been shown to be effective in the asymmetric epoxidation of olefins by oxone.

Carbohydrate-derived iminium salt organocatalysts for the asymmetric epoxidation of alkenes [PDF]
A new family of carbohydrate-based dihydroisoquinolinium salts has been prepared and tested for potential as asymmetric catalysts for the epoxidation of unfunctionalized alkene substrates, providing up to 57% ee in the product ...

Oxidoperoxidomolybdenum(VI) complexes with acylpyrazolonate ligands: synthesis, structure and catalytic properties [PDF]
Oxidoperoxido–molybdenum(VI) complexes containing acylpyrazolonate ligands were obtained by reaction of [Mo(O)(O)2(H2O)n] with the corresponding acylpyrazolone compounds HQR.
