Effects of each operating condition on the underwater shock waves driven by imploding detonation and microorganism treatment experiments

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2015
In recent years, microorganisms contained in ship ballast water have been identified as vectors for the destruction of marine ecosystems. To control such microorganisms, various techniques are being developed and tested.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

NO formation/reduction mechanisms of ammonia/air premixed flames at various equivalence ratios and pressures

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2015
Ammonia is a carbon-free fuel and its application to internal combustion engines is expected. However, few studies on ammonia flames, especially at high pressures, have been carried out because ammonia has not been considered to be a fuel owing to its ...

The sound damping constant for generalized theories of gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The near-horizon metric for a black brane in Anti-de Sitter (AdS) space and the metric near the AdS boundary both exhibit hydrodynamic behavior. We demonstrate the equivalence of this pair of hydrodynamic systems for the sound mode of a conformal theory.

Examination of the Staple and Effective Land Equivalent Ratios

open access: yesExperimental Agriculture, 1985
SUMMARYTwo extensions to the Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) concept, the Effective LER and the Staple LER, are evaluated for an intercrop of two species. The use of different standardizing sole-crop yields in the Effective LER equation is emphasized for the formation of different comparisons between intercrop and sole-crop yields.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Study on Explosion Mechanism of Dimethyl Ether/H2-Blended Gas Based on Chemical Kinetics Method

open access: yesFire
In order to reveal the deflagration mechanism of DME/H2-blended gasses, the micro-mechanism was studied based on the constructed UC San Diego 2016 pyrolysis oxidation mechanism model.
