InSAR observations of ice elevation and velocity fluctuations at the Flade Isblink ice cap, eastern North Greenland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The 8500 km(2) Flade Isblink ice cap (FIIC) (81 degrees 15'N, 15 degrees 0'W) is the largest ice cap in Greenland. We use repeat-pass interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) techniques to investigate the form and flow of the FIIC.

The Impact of Extreme Response Style on the Mean Comparison of Two Independent Samples

open access: yesSAGE Open, 2022
Extreme response style (ERS) is prevalent in survey research using rating scales. It may cause biased results in group comparisons. This research conducted two sets of simulation studies to explore the magnitude of the ERS impact on mean comparisons ...

The adsorption of 4,4ʹ-bipyridine at a Cd(0001)|ionic liquid interface – The descent into disorder

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2023
In this study, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and in situ STM measurements have been used to investigate the interface between a Cd(0001) single-crystal electrode and an ionic liquid electrolyte containing an organic additive.

Properties of Solar Ephemeral Regions at the Emergence Stage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
For the first time, we statistically study the properties of ephemeral regions (ERs) and quantitatively determine their parameters at the emergence stage based on a sample of 2988 ERs observed by the \emph{Solar Dynamics Observatory}.

Proliferation and estrogen signaling can distinguish patients at risk for early versus late relapse among estrogen receptor positive breast cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Introduction: We examined if a combination of proliferation markers and estrogen receptor (ER) activity could predict early versus late relapses in ER-positive breast cancer and inform the choice and length of adjuvant endocrine therapy.

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Ecosystem carbon use efficiency at global scale from upscaling eddy-covariance data with machine learning and MODIS products

open access: yesScientific Reports
Carbon use efficiency (CUE) is a key indicator in coupled biological–abiotic systems that accounts for their capacity of effectively retain carbon, offering insights of ecosystem functioning and the dynamics of carbon cycle.

Jesuit pray-ers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Some trepidation accompanies this account of prayer, for I have long held the Seminar on Jesuit Spirituality in high regard, perhaps too readily canonizing its members and their writings.

Tuning the Testicular Microenvironment for Enhancing Human Sertoli Cells Maturation and Functionality In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An in vitro testicular model is developed by generating connective tissue equivalents from human dermal fibroblast‐derived microtissues and coupling them with human Sertoli cells or human Sertoli cell spheroids. This engineered microenvironment supports Sertoli cell maturation and functionality, providing a promising platform for studying human ...
