Global Carbon Fluxes Using Multioutput Gaussian Processes Regression and MODIS Products

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The quantification of carbon fluxes (CFs) is crucial due to their role in the global carbon cycle having a direct impact on Earth's climate. In the last years, considerable efforts have been made to scale CFs from eddy covariance (EC) data to the ...

SPSB1 Promotes Subcutaneous Adipose Hyperplasia in Facial Port‐Wine Stains by Controlling HDAC1 Degradation and Stability Through Two Distinct Proteolytic Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In PWS‐ASPCs, FOSL1 drives the expression of SPSB1. SPSB1, as part of the ESC complex, further binds to HDAC1 and promotes K29‐linked and K48‐linked polyubiquitination of HDAC1. These modifications facilitate the degradation of HDAC1 through the ALP and UPS pathways, respectively.

Temporary Programs, Lasting Questions: Ad Hoc Assistance in the U.S. Farm Safety Net

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large ad hoc assistance programs have returned to U.S. farm policy since 2017, operating alongside a more developed safety net built around federally subsidized crop insurance, Title I commodity programs, and standing disaster assistance. This paper reviews the renewed use of ad hoc assistance, documents its recent scale using USDA data, and ...

Supply Behavior of Hydrous Ethanol in Brazil

open access: yesEconomia Aplicada, 2015
This study built an economic model for hydrous ethanol and sugarcane supply. A panel data econometric model was used to estimate the economic models, using data from the main producer states in Brazil and for the period 2000/01—2012/13.

Visual processing: Parallel-er and Parallel-er [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2001
The mammalian visual system processes many different aspects of the visual scene in separate, parallel channels. Recent experiments suggest that the visual cortex, like the retina, forms parallel circuits even at very fine spatial scales.

Rural Labor Supply and Economic Opportunities: Commuting, Migration, Tariffs, and Immigration

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Some rural counties remain dependent on agricultural or manufacturing jobs, but an increasing proportion have diversified economics. Rural counties also differ in their abilities to commute to an urban market characterized by higher wages and labor productivity.
