Role of SIZN1 in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesMiddle East Journal of Cancer, 2019
Background: Bone morphogenetic proteins are a family of cytokines and growth factors that are involved in tumorigenesis. ZCCHC12 (SIZN1), as a transcriptional coactivator of bone morphogenetic protein signaling, is identified as a positive regulator ...

Overexpression of TRIM44 is related to invasive potential and malignant outcomes in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Recent studies have shown that some members of the tripartite motif-containing protein family function as important regulators for carcinogenesis. In this study, we investigated whether tripartite motif-containing protein 44 acts as a cancer-promoting ...

Gene therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience, 2008
Despite improvement of surgical treatment and application of multi-modality therapies to advanced esophageal cancer, the prognosis is extremely poor in patients with T4 tumors. Based on the genetic background of esophageal cancer, we have developed various gene therapy strategies against human esophageal cancer cells.

Unveiling Lactylation: A Novel Frontier in Cancer Stemness and Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor metabolism and epigenetic regulation are intrinsically linked. This review highlights lactylation as a pivotal bridge connecting these processes, acting as an active epigenetic effector in cancer stemness. We delineate how lactylation orchestrates the cancer stem cell landscape and evaluate its regulatory networks.

The Development and Pilot Clinical Study of CD147 Targeted Antagonistic Peptide Probe for Tumor Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes [68Ga]Ga‐DOTA‐AP9 as a first‐in‐human CD147‐targeted PET tracer with favorable safety and specific tumor uptake. Tracer accumulation correlates with CD147 expression in patients, enabling noninvasive quantification of CD147‐positive malignancies.

Expression and Regulatory Network Analysis of MiR-139-3p, a New Potential Serum Biomarker for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Based on Bioinformatics Analysis

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2020
Background: In recent studies, microRNAs have been demonstrated as stable detectable biomarkers in blood for cancer. In addition, computer-aided biomarker discovery has now become an attractive paradigm for precision diagnosis. Methods: In this study, we

Case report: A case of rectal metastatic squamous cell carcinoma from the esophagus

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
Esophageal cancer is prone to distant metastasis, and the prognosis is very poor; the occurrence of intestinal metastasis is extremely rare, with atypical clinical manifestations.

TP53 Mutations in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2023
The occurrence and development of esophageal cancer involve multiple genetic abnormalities that contribute to the malignant transformation of esophageal epithelial cells, followed by invasion and metastasis, leading to a poor outcome. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the predominant histological subtype of esophageal malignancy in East Asia,

Loss of E3 Ubiquitin Ligase RINES via CpG Methylation Relieves Suppression of STAT3 and MYC, Facilitating Multiple Tumorigeneses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulated protein modifications drive tumorigenesis. RINES, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, represses tumor cell proliferation and metastasis by facilitating RING domain‐dependent, ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation of STAT3 and MYC, which consequently restrains cancer stemness and oncogenic progression.
