Exploiting Activated Alkyne Chemistry for the Synthesis of Tailored Amphiphilic Janus Dendrimers with Aggregation‐Induced Emission and Their Assemblies for Cell Imaging

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Amphiphilic Janus dendrimers (AJDs) are a promising class of macromolecules capable of self‐assembling into well‐defined nanostructures. In this study, AJDs were synthesized employing, for the first time, the activated alkyne‐hydroxyl "click" chemistry approach, enabling the construction of dendritic architectures under mild conditions.

Chemical upcycling of poly(ethylene terephthalate) waste: Moving to a circular model

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 60, Issue 24, Page 3269-3283, 15 December 2022., 2022
Abstract The circular economy is a path that society, governments, and business must adopt to develop a viable and sustainable model for plastic production. Following the route guided by the United Nations and the new laws of the European Union, such as the Green Deal, it will be able to put an end to the great problem of this era, the inadequate ...

African dung beetle Onthophagus gazella Fabricius (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) esterase isozymes

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
African beetles Onthophagus gazella from both sexes were analyzed by electrophoresis for an investigation of esterase isozymes using alpha-naphthyl propionate and methylumbelliferyl propionate as substrates. Only one of the esterases (Est.

Diversity‐Oriented Synthesis and Antibiofilm Evaluation of Furan‐2‐Carboxamides

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Navigating through the chemical space of antibiofilm agents! Furan‐2‐carboxamides inhibit the production of this extracellular shield in Pseudomonas aeruginosa by modulating the linkers and substituents of the central core. The discovery offers a solution to the metabolically unstable antibiofilm agents based on furanones, leading to the design of more

ROLE OF BACTERIAL ESTERASE ON MERCURY DYNAMICS IN MANGROVE SEDIMENTS

open access: yesGeochimica Brasiliensis, 2019
Tropical estuarine areas present microbial and geochemical conditions that have been pointed out as important conditions to trigger the mechanisms of mercury methylation improving its bioavailability to higher trophic levels.

Fast Release of Carboxylic Acid inside Cells

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Masking carboxylic acids as esters enhances cellular entry, but rapid intracellular release is crucial to improve efficacy. 2‐Hydroxyethyl‐dithio‐benzyl, rapidly cleaved by intracellular thioredoxin, followed by fast carboxylic acid release by self‐immolation, is designed with a fluorogenic carboxylic acid BODIPY. A levofloxacin prodrug containing this

Progress in COVID research and developments during pandemic

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 3, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
The pandemic respiratory disease COVID‐19 has spread over the globe within a small span of time. Generally, there are two important points are being highlighted and considered towards the successful diagnosis and treatment process. The first point includes the reduction of the rate of infections and the next one is the decrease of the death rate.

Hybrid Molecules as Efficient Drugs against Multidrug‐Resistant Malaria Parasites

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Among hybrid molecules currently developed as antimalarial drug candidates, emoquine‐1 exhibits high activity against all the multidrug‐resistant Plasmodium strains tested up to now, including artemisinin‐resistant quiescent parasites, critical parameters for promising antimalarial drugs. It is also curative in mouse malaria.
