This study focuses on the precise model estimation for a position control problem actuated by a shape memory alloy (SMA) wire. Because the hysteresis characteristic of SMA introduces complexities in system modelling and adds degrees of freedom, a model ...

Discrete-to-continuous transition in quantum phase estimation
We analyze the problem of quantum phase estimation where the set of allowed phases forms a discrete $N$ element subset of the whole $[0,2\pi]$ interval, $\varphi_n = 2\pi n/N$, $n=0,\dots N-1$ and study the discrete-to-continuous transition $N\rightarrow\

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

An approach to distributed asynchronous multi‐sensor fusion utilising data compensation algorithm
Multi‐sensor networks often encounter challenges such as inconsistent sampling times among local sensors and data loss during transmission. To address these issues, this paper employs a data loss compensation strategy to reconstruct missing data ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Finding Association Rules by Direct Estimation of Likelihood Ratios
In this paper, we propose a cost function that corresponds to the mean square errors between estimated values and true values of conditional probability in a discrete distribution. We then obtain the values that minimize the cost function.

This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Testing of quantum phase in matter wave optics
Various phase concepts may be treated as special cases of the maximum likelihood estimation. For example the discrete Fourier estimation that actually coincides with the operational phase of Noh, Fouge`res and Mandel is obtained for continuous Gaussian ...

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Asymptotic Theory for Clustered Samples
We provide a complete asymptotic distribution theory for clustered data with a large number of independent groups, generalizing the classic laws of large numbers, uniform laws, central limit theory, and clustered covariance matrix estimation.
