Natural Products as Modulators of ABC Transporters in Breast Cancer

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breast cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with high incidence and mortality rates despite advancements in early detection and treatment. Multidrug resistance (MDR), particularly in aggressive subtypes like triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC), continues to hinder effective therapy.

Phthalate Metabolite, Mono(2‐Ethyl‐5‐Hydroxyhexyl) Phthalate (MEHHP), Promotes Uterine‐Fibroid–Associated Phenotypes in Myometrial Stem Cell‐Derived 3D Organoids

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how phthalate exposure contributes to uterine fibroid (UF) development by studying the effects of the Mono‐(2‐ethyl‐5‐hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP), a metabolite of Di(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate, on myometrial stem cells (MMSCs).

Diving Deeper Into Mechanisms of Acrylamide‐Induced Toxicity: RNA Sequencing Reveals Transcriptomic Alteration and Retrotransposon Expression in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.

Diflubenzuron Caused Mitochondrial Dysfunction, Ca2+ Homeostasis Disruption, and Intrinsic Apoptosis in Trophoblastic Cells

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diflubenzuron is used as an insect growth inhibitor, and its potential risk to human health was raised owing to the possibility of environmental residues and human exposure. This study aimed to investigate the toxic mechanism of diflubenzuron on trophoblastic cells such as HTR8/SVneo and JEG‐3 cells. We investigated mitochondrial function, Ca2+

Assessment of Oxidative Stress, Vitellogenin, and Human Health Risks Derived From Nile Tilapia Exposed to Metals and Metalloids in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Urban coastal lagoons are highly vulnerable ecosystems increasingly affected by metal contamination, as well as multiple anthropogenic stressors. This study evaluated ecotoxicological and human health risks associated with chronic metal exposure in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from an anthropogenically impacted lagoon in southeastern ...

Comparison of transcriptional synergy of estrogen receptors α and β from multiple tandem estrogen response elements

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 2000
Estrogen receptors alpha and beta (ERalpha and ERbeta) act as ligand-dependent transcriptional enhancers. We reported that ERalpha induces synergistic activation of luciferase reporter gene activity in response to E(2) from three or four tandem copies of a consensus estrogen response element (ERE) in transiently transfected MCF-7 cells.

Absence of estrogen receptor-β expression in metastatic ovarian cancer

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2000
To evaluate the expression of estrogen receptor (ER)alpha and ERbeta mRNA and protein in normal ovarian tissue and primary and metastatic tumors.Estrogen receptor alpha and ERbeta expression was studied in normal ovarian biopsies (n = 9) and primary (n = 8) and metastatic ovarian epithelial cancers (n = 8).
