We show that vegetation structure can predict species richness and functional diversity in Amazonian mixed‐species flocks in primary and secondary forests. In addition, we show that secondary forest flocks retain a large percentage of the functional diversity exhibited by their primary forest counterparts. Abstract Secondary forest has the potential to

Providing long‐term care: Options for a better workforce
Abstract Older people and their care workers have been disproportionately affected by the COVID‐19 pandemic. Many OECD Member countries have taken measures to contain the spread of the infection and improve the care workforce. Yet the health crisis is highlighting and exacerbating pre‐existing structural problems in the long‐term care (LTC) sector.

A free Plain Language Summary can be found within the Supporting Information of this article. Abstract Tropical tree species span a range of life‐history strategies within a fast–slow continuum. The position of a species within this continuum is thought to reflect a negative relationship between growth and storage, with fast‐growing species allocating ...

Pine invasion reduced native species abundance, plant cover, richness and diversity, with an increase over time since invasion. Species diversity and richness were lower in the managed area than in the area that had not been invaded. Restoration activities are therefore required to increase native species diversity.

Warming of aquatic ecosystems disrupts aquatic–terrestrial linkages in the tropics
Using tank‐bromeliads, the authors experimentally investigated for the first time how aquatic–terrestrial linkages are affected by warming in the tropics. In contrast to temperate regions, warming is predicted to cause strong declines in tropical aquatic insect emergence into terrestrial ecosystems, while variably affecting terrestrial detritus ...

Descrições estruturais cristalinas de zeólitos [PDF]
Crystalline structures of zeolites can be studied using different representations: the internal symmetry obtained by X-Ray or neutron diffraction crystallography techniques or a systematic analysis of the basic structural units which can be arranged to build the geometries of each kind of zeolite. In this work the basic concepts of three building units,

Aspectos estruturais da membrana eritrocitária [PDF]
This article describes the structures and functions of the erythrocyte membrane and its importance in transfusional medicine. The erythrocyte membrane is one of the best known membranes in terms of structure, function and genetic disorders. As any other plasma membrane, it mediates transport functions.
