Microscale hydrogels (microgels) feature improved mass transport characteristics supportive of fast actuation and chemical tunability amenable to programmed stimuli response. A unique soft actuator architecture is realized by encapsulating microgels in soft microcirculatory systems which enable the convenient delivery of liquid stimuli for powering and

Real‐Time, Label‐Free Monitoring of Cell Behavior on a Bioelectronic Scaffold
A bioelectronic nanofibrous scaffold is introduced that supports cell growth while enabling real‐time, label‐free monitoring of cellular behavior through impedance measurements. The system correlates electrical signals with cell viability and surface coverage, offering an integrated platform for studying dynamic biological processes and advancing next ...

On the tear resistance of skin. [PDF]
Tear resistance is of vital importance in the various functions of skin, especially protection from predatorial attack. Here, we mechanistically quantify the extreme tear resistance of skin and identify the underlying structural features, which lead to ...

Catalytic Ethanol Dehydration over Different Acid-activated Montmorillonite Clays
In the present study, the catalytic dehydration of ethanol to obtain ethylene over montmorillonite clays (MMT) with mineral acid activation including H2SO4 (SA-MMT), HCl (HA-MMT) and HNO3 (NA-MMT) was investigated at temperature range of 200 to 400°C. It revealed that HA-MMT exhibited the highest catalytic activity.

A First approach of using ultrasound as an alternative for blanching in vacuum-packaged potato strips [PDF]
The effect of ultrasound (US) (40 kHz, 200 W, 3 min), blanching (85 °C, 3.5 min), and the combination of both methods was evaluated on the quality of vacuum-packaged potato strips stored at 3 ± 1 °C for up to 10 days.
