Ethanolamine Utilization in Bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesmBio, 2018
ABSTRACT Ethanolamine (EA) is a valuable source of carbon and/or nitrogen for bacteria capable of its catabolism. Because it is derived from the membrane phospholipid phosphatidylethanolamine, it is particularly prevalent in the gastrointestinal tract, which is membrane rich due to turnover of the intestinal epithelium and the ...

Preparation of fatty acid methyl esters and dimethylacetals from lipids with boron fluoride–methanol

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Fatty acid methyl esters and dimethylacetals suitable for gas chromatographic analysis were prepared by treatment of lipids with boron fluoride–methanol (140 g BF3 per liter of methanol). This reagent is stable and easy to handle.

Evidence for an ethanolamine cycle: differential recycling of the ethanolamine moiety of phosphatidylethanolamine derived from phosphatidylserine and ethanolamine [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1995
Evidence is presented for the operation of an ethanolamine-phosphatidylethanolamine (PtdEtn) cycle in Chinese hamster ovary cells. PtdEtn was labelled with [3H]ethanolamine and radioactivity was chased by incubation with 1 mM unlabelled ethanolamine. Radioactivity in [3H]PtdEtn gradually declined over a 23 h time period.

Human Gut Microbes Produce EPA‐ and DHA‐Derived Oxylipins, but not N‐Acyl‐Ethanolamines, From Fish Oil

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal
We recently reported that human fecal microbiota colonized in a simulator of the human intestinal microbiome ecosystem (SHIME) process dietary oil from Buglossoides arvensis (Ahiflower), rich in the n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) stearidonic acid,

Sex differences in psychiatric comorbidity and plasma biomarkers for cocaine addiction in abstinent cocaine-addicted subjects in outpatient settings

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2015
There are sex differences in the progression of drug addiction, relapse and response to therapies. Because biological factors participate in these differences, they should be considered when using biomarkers for addiction.

Effect of Ethanolamines on Corrosion Inhibition of Ductile Cast Iron in Nitrite Containing Solutions

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, synergistic corrosion inhibition effect of nitrite and 3 kinds of ethanolamines on ductile cast iron using chemical and electrochemical methods was evaluated. This work attempts to clarify the synergistic effect of nitrite and ethanolamines.

ToxCast chemical library Wnt screen identifies diethanolamine as an activator of neural progenitor proliferation

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, 2022
Numerous autism spectrum disorder (ASD) risk genes are associated with Wnt signaling, suggesting that brain development may be especially sensitive to genetic perturbation of this pathway.

Ethanolamine utilization in Vibrio alginolyticus [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Direct, 2012
Abstract Ethanolamine is used as an energy source by phylogenetically diverse bacteria including pathogens, by the concerted action of proteins from the eut-operon. Previous studies have revealed the presence of eutBC genes encoding ethanolamine-ammonia lyase, a key enzyme that breaks ethanolamine into acetaldehyde and ammonia, in about 100 ...

Technological concentration sensor for ethanolamines based on an optical sensor

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The most important parameters necessary for the precise control of the separation of monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, and triethanolamine on column distillation apparatus are their initial concentrations in the mixtures fed to the columns.
