Ethosomes as Nanocarriers for the Development of Skin Delivery Formulations

Pharmaceutical Research, 2021
The use of nanotechnology has been extensively explored for developing efficient drug delivery systems towards topical and transdermal applications. Ethosomes constitute a vesicular nanocarrier containing a relatively high concentration of ethanol (20-45%).

Ethosome: An Innovative Perspective of Drug Delivery

Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology
Ethosome offers a unique solution to the challenges faced by conventional drug delivery systems. In comparison to traditional liposomes and other nanocarriers, ethosomes exhibit a unique ability to improve drug absorption, overcoming a major limitation in the Transdermal Drug Delivery System.

Transdermal applications of ethosomes – a detailed review

Journal of Liposome Research, 2018
Skin, the largest organ of the body serves as a potential route of drug delivery for local and systemic effects. However, the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum (SC) acts as a tough barrier that prevents penetration of hydrophilic and high molecular weight drugs.

A Review on Ethosomes for Transdermal Application

Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2019
Skin is a constitutional and the most easily manageable organ of the body. The objective of transdermal drug delivery system is to cross the stratum corneum. Various methods have been used to escalate the penetration rate of drugs. Ethosomes are the most pioneering vesicular system with eminent level of ethanol present in it which ensures better ...

Ethosomes as delivery system for transdermal administration of vinpocetine

Die Pharmazie, 2013
The purpose of the present study was to develop a novel transdermal vinpocetine patch containing a stable formulation and with good entrapment efficiency, and percutaneous absorption which via ethosome. Ethosome was found to be a more efficient delivery carrier with high encapsulation capacities (79.5% ± 1.8%) and nanometric size (180.7 ± 1.5 nm).
