Does the Orientation of an Euler Diagram Affect User Comprehension? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Euler diagrams, which form the basis of numerous visual languages, can be an effective representation of information when they are both well-matched and well-formed. However, being well-matched and well-formed alone does not imply effectiveness.

Inverse Design of Amorphous Materials With Targeted Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AMDEN is a diffusion model framework for the inverse design of amorphous materials with targeted properties. By incorporating Hamiltonian Monte Carlo refinement into the denoising process, the framework overcomes the challenge of generating thermally relaxed disordered structures.

Dynamical equations of multibody systems on Lie groups

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
The Euler–Poinaré principle is a reduced Hamilton’s principle under Lie group framework. In this article, it is applied to derive a hybrid set of dynamical equations of rigid multibody systems, which include four parts: the classical Euler–Lagrange ...

General formulas for chains of fundamental mutually homogeneous functions with a common pair of complex conjugate eigenvalues

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2020
This work continues the study of the properties of mutually homogeneous functions, which are a generalization of Euler homogeneous functions and can be used in the synthesis of electric and magnetic fields of electron and ion-optical systems with special

Improving User Comprehension of Euler Diagrams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The graphical choices made when laying out Euler diagrams impact upon both aesthetic quality and comprehensiveness. Graphical choices include the shape, size and colour of closed curves which are commonly described as retinal variables to which we are ...

Euler systems with local conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Euler systems are certain compatible families of cohomology classes, which play a key role in studying the arithmetic of Galois representations. We briefly survey the known Euler systems, and recall a standard conjecture of Perrin-Riou predicting what ...

Rational Tuning of Hygroscopic Oscillation of Stacked Nanoflake Assemblies for Continuous Ambient Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Fractional-order Euler functions for solving fractional integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernel

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
In this paper, a new set of functions called fractional-order Euler functions (FEFs) is constructed to obtain the solution of fractional integro-differential equations.

Quasi-Neutral Limit of the Euler–Poisson and Euler–Monge–Ampère Systems [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Partial Differential Equations, 2005
This paper studies the pressureless Euler-Poisson system and its fully non-linear counterpart, the Euler-Monge-Ampère system, where the fully non-linear Monge-Ampère equation substitutes for the linear Poisson equation. While the first is a model of plasma physics, the second is derived as a geometric approximation to the Euler incompressible equations.
