Missed opportunities in health care education evidence synthesis [PDF]
We read with excitement the systematic review on how to teach evidence-based medicine (EBM) to medical trainees.1 The conclusions of the paper1 represent a concise and accurate reflection of this large synthesis of evidence.

PTEN-opathies: from biological insights to evidence-based precision medicine.
The tumor suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) classically counteracts the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling cascade. Germline pathogenic PTEN mutations cause PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome (PHTS), featuring various benign and malignant tumors, as well ...

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Development and validation of the ACE tool: Assessing medical trainees' competency in evidence based medicine [PDF]
BACKGROUND: While a variety of instruments have been developed to assess knowledge and skills in evidence based medicine (EBM), few assess all aspects of EBM - including knowledge, skills attitudes and behaviour - or have been psychometrically evaluated.

Corroborating evidence‐based medicine [PDF]
AbstractProponents of evidence‐based medicine (EBM) have argued convincingly for applying this scientific method to medicine. However, the current methodological framework of the EBM movement has recently been called into question, especially in epidemiology and the philosophy of science.

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Evidence-based design: theoretical and practical reflections of an emerging approach in office architecture [PDF]
Evidence-based design is a practice that has emerged only relatively recently, inspired by a growing popularity of evidence-based approaches in other professions such as medicine.
