The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

KL Estimation of the Power Spectrum Parameters from the Angular Distribution of Galaxies in Early SDSS Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present measurements of parameters of the 3-dimensional power spectrum of galaxy clustering from 222 square degrees of early imaging data in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

INTERFERENCE EXCISION IN SPREAD SPECTRUM COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS USING IF ESTIMATION

open access: yesElectrica, 2012
In this paper, we consider the problem of jammer excision in Spread Spectrum (SS) communication systems. We apply a time--frequency mask obtained by the instantaneous frequency (IF) estimate of the interference signal.

Neuroblastoma arises in early fetal development and its evolutionary duration predicts outcome

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2023
Somatic evolutionary analysis of neuroblastoma, a pediatric tumor, proposes a common fetal time of origin. Notably, high-risk tumors exhibit early genomic instability and prolonged evolution, and this evolutionary duration predicts clinical outcomes ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Short versus long term benefits and the evolution of cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma game [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper I investigate the evolution of cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma when individuals change their strategies subject to performance evaluation of their neighbours over variable time horizons.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Multi-Objective Quantum Inspired Evolutionary SLM Scheme for PAPR Reduction in Multi-Carrier Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
As an efficient wireless transmission technology, multi-carrier communication find its way in many applications. However, high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the signal degrades the system performance.
