Soil acidity and soil acidification - fundamental concepts and status for five Danish forest soils [PDF]
Soil acidification is considered the process where protons are neutralized in the soil leading to a decrease in the amount of bases ("decrease in acid neutralization capacity'). Soil acidity is both an intensity term (proton activity in the soil solution)

Estimation of cation-exchange capacity in routine soil testing
The efficiency of the soil testing method used in Finland for predicting the effective cation-exchange capacity was studied in a material of 430 topsoil samples.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Lewis Acid-Catalyzed Sulfur Fluoride Exchange
A new method uses metal Lewis acids as catalysts to convert sulfonyl fluorides, fluorosulfates, and sulfamoyl fluorides with silyl amines into S-N bond-containing compounds via sulfur fluoride exchange. The reaction successfully employs Ca(NTf2)2 as a catalyst to form sulfonamides, sulfamates, and sulfamides using in situ-generated or commercially ...

This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

SOME EFFECTS OF INTENSIVE IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE ON VALENTINE SOILS IN THE NEBRASKA SANDHILLS (ACIDITY) [PDF]
Fertilization and irrigation of coarse textured soils has resulted in marked increases in soil acidity. Stable levels of organic matter seem to buffer the soil against adverse effects of acidity such as aluminum toxicity.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.
