Schistosoma “Eggs-Iting” the Host: Granuloma Formation and Egg Excretion

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Schistosomiasis is a major cause of morbidity in humans invoked by chronic infection with parasitic trematodes of the genus Schistosoma. Schistosomes have a complex life-cycle involving infections of an aquatic snail intermediate host and a definitive ...

Unveiling unique protein and phosphorylation signatures in lung adenocarcinomas with and without ALK, EGFR, and KRAS genetic alterations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Proteomic and phosphoproteomic analyses were performed on lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tumors with EGFR, KRAS, or EML4–ALK alterations and wild‐type cases. Distinct protein expression and phosphorylation patterns were identified, especially in EGFR‐mutated tumors. Key altered pathways included vesicle transport and RNA splicing.

Neurosecretion and sodium excretion

open access: yesKidney International, 1974
Over the last few years there has been an accumulation of observations which indicate that there is a humoral substance other than aldosterone which influences renal sodium excretion. The findings by numerous authors have demonstrated that this humoral factor increases the excretion of sodium in response to expansion of the extracellular fluid (ECF ...

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

FITASE EM DIETAS PARA SUÍNOS EM CRESCIMENTO: (I) IMPACTO AMBIENTAL PHYTASE IN DIETS FOR GROWING PIGS: (I) ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
