Paradigmatic status of an endo- and exoglucanase and its effect on crystalline cellulose degradation [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2012
Abstract Background Microorganisms employ a multiplicity of enzymes to efficiently degrade the composite structure of plant cell wall cellulosic polysaccharides. These remarkable enzyme systems include glycoside hydrolases (cellulases, hemicellulases), polysaccharide lyases, and the carbohydrate esterases.

Optimization of hydrolases production from cassava peels by Trametes polyzona BKW001

open access: yesScientific African, 2021
The saccharification of biomass with hydrolases from fungi is considered as an efficient and sustainable approach to obtain fermentable sugars. The expression of these hydrolytic enzymes by fungi is mainly by a substrate-induced mechanism, which depends ...

Candida albicansexoglucanase as a reporter gene inSchizosaccharomyces pombe [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1999
The Candida albicans XOG1 gene, previously shown to be a good reporter gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and C. albicans, was tested in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Unlike the budding yeast, S. pombe does not produce exoglucanase activity and hence this system would be applicable to any given strain of this organism.

Microplastics from Wearable Bioelectronic Devices: Sources, Risks, and Sustainable Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 20, 9 March 2026.
Bioelectronic devices (e.g., e‐skins) heavily rely on polymers that at the end of their life cycle will generate microplastics. For research, a holistic approach to viewing the full impact of such devices cannot be overlooked. The potential for devices as sources for microplastics is raised, with mitigation strategies surrounding polysaccharide and ...
