Peptide Fingerprinting of Single Protein Molecules Using In‐Plane Nanopore Sensors Integrated to an Extended Immobilized Nanoscale Enzymatic Reactor (eINER)

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
The protein Time‐of‐Flight (P‐ToF) chip can peptide fingerprint a single protein molecule by subjecting it to a solid phase endopeptidase cleavage reaction in‐line with a combination of resistive pulse sensing of the resulting single peptides and machine‐learning aided identification.

Electrochemical aptasensors for ultrasensitive multiplexed detection: Towards a new era of precision diagnostics and environmental monitoring

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Electrochemical aptasensors are emerging as powerful platforms for precision diagnostics and environmental monitoring, owing to their high selectivity, programmability and compatibility with miniaturised systems. However, their broader application is constrained by limited signal intensity and challenges in reliable multiplexed detection.

Exonuclease 1 and its versatile roles in DNA repair

open access: yes, 2016
Exonuclease 1 (EXO1) is a multifunctional 5' → 3' exonuclease and a DNA structure-specific DNA endonuclease. EXO1 plays roles in DNA replication, DNA mismatch repair (MMR) and DNA double-stranded break repair (DSBR) in lower and higher eukaryotes and ...

The coronavirus nsp14 exoribonuclease interface with the cofactor nsp10 is essential for efficient virus replication and enzymatic activity

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Coronaviruses (CoVs) encode non-structural proteins (nsp’s) 1–16, which assemble to form replication-transcription complexes that function in viral RNA synthesis.

MMS exposure promotes increased MtDNA mutagenesis in the presence of replication-defective disease-associated DNA polymerase γ variants.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2014
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) encodes proteins essential for ATP production. Mutant variants of the mtDNA polymerase cause mutagenesis that contributes to aging, genetic diseases, and sensitivity to environmental agents.

Humble beginnings of the Australian giant wood moth (Endoxyla cinereus): A century‐old mystery solved

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The Australian giant wood moth (Endoxyla cinereus) feeds within the galls of scale insects (Apiomorpha) before transitioning into its wood‐boring eucalypt larval phase. This transitionary phase may be key to its multi‐year development, at the end of which it can produce over 100 000 eggs.

Dissecting endonuclease and exonuclease activities in endonuclease V from Thermotoga maritima

open access: yes, 2010
Endonuclease V is an enzyme that initiates a conserved DNA repair pathway by making an endonucleolytic incision at the 30-side 1nt from a deaminated base lesion.

DdrA Protein Protects 3′ Ends from Degradation by Exonuclease I

open access: yes, 2013
(A) This set of reactions uses the labeled duplex DNA illustrated. The oligos annealed to form this DNA are 51 and 37 nt in length and pair so as to leave a 14-nt 3′ extension. The shorter DNA is 5′ end–labeled.

Integrated Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals the Genetic Basis of Phenotypic Variation in Tibetan Sheep

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
SNaPshot‐validated GWAS results demonstrated significant correlations between candidate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and body size traits in Tibetan sheep. Concurrently, hematoxylin and eosin staining, alongside muscle fiber analysis, confirmed pronounced morphological differences in muscle tissue between sheep of varying conformation.
