This study reports the development of AMS@Eud core‐shell microspheres, combining calcium alginate and pH‐responsive Eudragit® L100, which exhibit exceptional gastrointestinal resistance and long‐term storage stability (only 5.28%–9.09% viability loss over 35 days at 4–25°C), and effectively alleviate inflammatory bowel disease via gut microbiota ...

Inorganic sonosensitizers suffer from inefficient electron‐hole separation, rapid recombination, and wide bandgaps in anti‐fungal applications. We propose MN@Fe2N/CeO2 to directly eliminate fungi without drug resistance. Combining semiconductor CeO2's advantages with Fe2N's high work function and activity enables efficient Schottky heterojunctions ...

SiC/Si ceramic hollow fibres: A new approach to Chlorella vulgaris biomass harvesting
Abstract Efficient harvesting of microalgae is a critical challenge for the viability of biorefineries, requiring technologies that combine high selectivity, low cost, and scalability. The current work evaluated the performance of an asymmetric hollow fibre ceramic membrane (HF‐SiC70Si30), fabricated by phase inversion and sintered at 1250°C, in the ...

Antiproliferative Properties of Scandium Exopolysaccharide Complexes on Several Cancer Cell Lines
Antimetastatic properties on both murine and human osteosarcoma cell lines (POS-1 and KHOS) have been evidenced using exopolysaccharide (EPS) derivatives, produced by Alteromonas infernus bacterium. These derivatives had no significant effect on the cell

Production of Exopolysacchardies by Probiotic Bacteria in the Presence of Bile Acids
Introduction: Exopolysaccharides (EPS) are compounds that contain one or two types of monosaccharide. They are synthesized by some strains of bacteria during fermentation stage; they contribute to the improvement of health by improving the Rheological ...

Biofilms as Battlefield Armor for Bacteria against Antibiotics: Challenges and Combating Strategies
Bacterial biofilms are formed by communities, which are encased in a matrix of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). Notably, bacteria in biofilms display a set of ‘emergent properties’ that vary considerably from free-living bacterial cells ...

Biosynthesis of exopolysaccharide by Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]
In batch cultures of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the maximum rate of exopolysaccharide synthesis occurred during exponential growth. In nitrogen-limited continuous culture, the specific rate of exopolysaccharide synthesis increased from 0.27 g g of cell-1 h-1 at a dilution rate (D) of 0.05 h-1 to 0.44 g g of cells h-1 at D=0.1 H-1.

Unveiling the potential of Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) essential oil. ABSTRACT This study investigated the antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and insecticidal properties of wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens L.) essential oil (GPEO). The EO was chemically characterized by GC–MS, confirming methyl salicylate as the predominant compound (99.3%).
