Expectation Rating.

open access: yes, 2013
Mean and standard error of the mean for the expectation rating under the three conditions (placebo, nocebo, control) when the same Parkinson's disease patients were on (n = 24 [Fig. 3A]) and off antiparkinsonian medication (n = 24 [Fig. 3B]).

Parents’ and children’s experiences of participating in a randomized controlled clinical trial: AIDIT-QS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health & Well-Being
Participation in a paediatric, complex randomized controlled trial (RCT) might add to the family burden when a child is diagnosed with a severe disease. Although important, there are only a limited number of papers describing this aspect of research from

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

On Jensen's inequality for g-expectation and for nonlinear expectation

open access: yes, 2005
International audienceIn this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for g under which Jensen's inequality holds for g-expectation. In particular, we show that if Jensen's inequality holds for g-expectation, then g is independent of y and g ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Improving recall in appearance-based visual SLAM using visual expectation

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we present a new algorithm for boosting visual template recall performance through a process of visual expectation. Visual expectation dynamically modifies the recognition thresholds of learnt visual templates based on recently matched ...
