Retinal S-antigen Th1 cell epitope mapping in patients with Behcet's disease [PDF]

open access: yes
Background - Retinal S-antigen (S-Ag) is a most characterized autoantigen of autoimmune uveitis. The recognized immunodominant epitope of human S-Ag in patients with uveitis has not been identified. In this study, we selected certain patients with active

Involvement of Angiopoietin 2 and vascular endothelial growth factor in uveitis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
PurposeAngiopoietin (Ang) 2 is released from vascular endothelial cells by the stimulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)A. Ang2 increases the expression of leukocyte adhesion molecules on endothelial cells via nuclear factor κB. The aim of

Understanding exosomes: Part 2—Emerging leaders in regenerative medicine

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, Volume 94, Issue 1, Page 257-414, February 2024.
Abstract Exosomes are the smallest subset of extracellular signaling vesicles secreted by most cells with the ability to communicate with other tissues and cell types over long distances. Their use in regenerative medicine has gained tremendous momentum recently due to their ability to be utilized as therapeutic options for a wide array of diseases ...

IL-10 has a protective role in experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Immunology, 1998
The role of IL-10 in the regulation of ocular autoimmune disease was studied in experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU) elicited in mice by immunization with the retinal antigen interphotoreceptor retinoid binding protein. IL-10-deficient mice were susceptible to EAU, indicating that pathogenesis can occur without presence of IL-10.
