A Novel Second-Order Explicit Integration Method for Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations in Dynamics

open access: yesMathematics
This paper introduces a new explicit integration method for second-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) commonly encountered in engineering applications. Traditionally, these problems are solved either by reformulating them as first-order systems

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Adaptivity in Crashworthiness Calculations

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 1993
h-Adaptive finite element methods for nonlinear transient analysis by explicit time integration are described. Examples are given of adaptive calculations for simple components and prototype calculations for a full car model.

Discrete-Time Implementation of Continuous Terminal Algorithm With Implicit-Euler Method

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes an alternative implementation for a continuous terminal algorithm (CTA) proposed by Torres-Gonzalez et al. The original CTA is a continuous version of the twisting algorithm (TA), which mitigates the chattering by integrating the ...

Partitioned Nonlinearity Soil–Structure Interaction Analysis for Nuclear Power Plant Structures with Pile Foundations

open access: yesBuildings
Accurate seismic safety assessment of nuclear power plant (NPP) structures with pile foundations on soft soil sites requires consideration of soil nonlinearity and pile–soil–structure interaction (PSSI).

Understanding science teachers’ implementations of integrated STEM curricular units through a phenomenological multiple case study

open access: yesInternational Journal of STEM Education, 2018
Background Current reforms in K-12 STEM education call for integration between science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Such integration of STEM disciplines at the K-12 level offers students an opportunity to experience learning in real ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
