Genetic Cluster of Extended-Spectrum β-lactamase-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Humans and Food, Switzerland, 2018-2019. [PDF]

open access: yesEmerg Infect Dis
We describe a cluster of genetically related extended-spectrum β-lactamase–producing Klebsiella pneumoniae sequence type 14 recovered from human clinical samples and an alfalfa-cress sample collected by systematic food sampling in Basel, Switzerland ...

Rapid Typing of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL)- and Metallo-β-Lactamase (MBL)-Producing Enterobacterales Using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
This study investigated the usefulness of the IR Biotyper, which types bacterial strains using Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, against extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase (ESBL)‐ and metallo‐β‐lactamase (MBL)‐producing Enterobacterales.

Biochemical and genetic characteristics of TEM-29B, a novel extended spectrum β-lactamase [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1999
A clinical strain of Escherichia coli (strain Ec 41553) that was resistant to ceftazidime produced a TEM-type beta-lactamase with a pI of 5.4. Clavulanic acid restored the ceftazidime activity, thus suggesting an extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL). The gene encoding ESBL was located in a plasmid of 57 kb.

Phenotypic and Molecular Detection of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamases Producing-Bacteria Isolated From Pregnant Women With Genital Tract Infection in Duhok Governorate

open access: yesScience Journal of University of Zakho, 2021
Beta-lactamase producing bacteria have a worldwide distribution with a high degree of prevalence in both community and hospital. Furthermore, multidrug resistant (MDR) and extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) producing bacterial isolates from women ...

An extended-spectrum AmpC-type β-lactamase obtained by in vitro antibiotic selection [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1998
A predictive approach was assayed to evaluate the possibility of mutant Amp-C beta-lactamase emergence with increased substrate spectrum (including new C-3' quaternary ammonium cephems). The ampC gene encoding the AmpC beta-lactamase from Enterobacter cloacae was cloned and expressed in an AmpC-defective strain of E. coli.
