Late‐Onset Meningitis due to Serratia marcescens in a Preterm Infant: A Rare Sporadic Case Report From a Cambodian NICU

ABSTRACT Late‐onset neonatal meningitis due to Serratia marcescens is an uncommon but potentially life‐threatening healthcare‐associated infection in NICUs. We report a sporadic case in a preterm infant who developed fever on Day 17 of life after a prolonged hospital stay for feeding difficulties and neonatal jaundice.

While postoperative complications such as bleeding or contained perforation are recognized, rapidly progressive retroperitoneal sepsis remains an exceedingly rare occurrence.

Multidrug‐resistant bacteria infections require alternative antimicrobial strategies. This study evaluated the phenolic composition, antibacterial activity, and in silico properties of four Moroccan monofloral honeys. Carob honey showed the greatest phenolic diversity, whereas citrus honey contained the lowest polyphenolic content.
