Extensively Drug-Resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, India

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2007
To the Editor: India is contributing nearly one third of the world’s tuberculosis (TB) cases and has the highest rate of new TB cases (1). Prevalence of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) cases is on the rise in India, and proportions of new cases of MDR TB have been observed to vary from 1.1% to 5.3% in most of the reported studies.

Extensively Drug-resistant Tuberculosis, Italy and Germany

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2007
To the Editor: Twenty-three countries have reported >1 case of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR TB) (1); however, information about XDR TB is still incomplete. In particular, the response of XDR TB to treatment in countries with low incidence is not known. We compared mortality rates from XDR TB with those from multidrug-resistant (MDR) TB.

Tetrahydropyrazolo[1,5-a]Pyrimidine-3-Carboxamide and N-Benzyl-6′,7′-Dihydrospiro[Piperidine-4,4′-Thieno[3,2-c]Pyran] analogues with bactericidal efficacy against Mycobacterium tuberculosis targeting MmpL3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a major human pathogen and the causative agent for the pulmonary disease, tuberculosis (TB). Current treatment programs to combat TB are under threat due to the emergence of multi-drug and extensively-drug resistant TB.
