Palmitoylation of PSD‐95 Orchestrates Learning‐Dependent Metaplasticity in the Amygdala and Fear Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that fear learning specifically triggers PICK1/DHHC2‐dependent palmitoylation of PSD‐95 in the lateral amygdala. Fear conditioning induces the dissociation of DHHC5 from PSD‐95 and the association of PSD‐95 with DHHC2. DHHC2‐mediated palmitoylation of PSD‐95 is required for synaptic transmission and underlies fear learning–induced ...

Unconventional programmes to promote experiences with urban nature in Berlin

open access: yesPeople and Nature
As more people live in cities, there is growing concern about the decline in human–nature interactions, which negatively affect health and engagement with conservation efforts.

Arterial Blood‐Mediated Deep‐Tissue Photoacoustic Oximetry

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The arterial prior method (APM+) for photoacoustic oximetry is introduced, which leverages the high arterial blood oxygenation to calibrate the fluence at the artery and estimate the oxygenation of the surrounding tissue, thus circumventing the spectral coloring problem. APM+’s accuracy and consistency are shown in a series of phantom and in vivo human

Chiral Plasmonic Printing of Discrete Hierarchical Chiral Au@Chiral Ag Semi‐Core‐Shell Nanorods With Chiral Plasmon‐Enhanced Photocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chiral plasmonic printing uses CPL as a chiral stimulus to guide asymmetric Ag deposition on chiral Au NRs seeds. Under CPL, hot carriers reduce Ag+, and the process is controlled by both the CPL handedness and the chiral SPR. L‐dc Au generates more hot electrons under LCP than RCP, while D‐dc Au shows the opposite, revealing chiral photon‐selective ...

Mechanical Flexibility Enables DNA Origami to Overcome Steric Confinement in Mucus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical flexibility is introduced as a design parameter to enhance nanocarrier transport in mucus. Using DNA origami, flexibility is decoupled from size, shap and surface chemistry, revealing improved passage through confined hydrogel networks. While surface passivation reduces aggregation, flexibility further boosts transport, offering a general ...

Negative symbolism of wildlife shapes human–nature coexistence: The plight of owls in Nigeria

open access: yesPeople and Nature
Human–wildlife coexistence in culturally diverse landscapes requires understanding how socio‐cultural processes shape perceptions and behaviours towards conservation‐priority species.

Involvement of dopamine D1/D5 and D2 receptors in context-dependent extinction learning and memory reinstatement

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2016
Dopamine contributes to the regulation of higher order information processing and executive control. It is important for memory consolidation processes, and for the adaptation of learned responses based on experience.

Use of Extinction Corrections in Neutron Diffraction Experiments [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Physics, 1988
The study of extinction by neutrons reveals many features of the extinction problem: theory and practical cases, polarised and unpolarised neutron cases. Special attention is given to the usual extinction corrections for neutron diffraction experiments, showing the relative importance of structure factor, wavelength, Lorentz factor, mosaic and the path

Engineering Strategies to Suppress Thermal Runaway Propagation in Lithium‐Ion Battery: Mechanisms, Metrics, Materials, and Evaluation Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermal runaway propagation can transform a single‐cell failure into a system‐level hazard in lithium‐ion battery packs. This review clarifies how heat transfer, gas venting, combustion, and configuration govern cell‐to‐cell failure, and links measurable metrics, pathway‐oriented suppression materials, and experimental/modeling tools to guide safer ...

Flanking‐Group Engineering Unlocks Emerging Functionalities in Diketopyrrolopyrrole Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review presents a comprehensive and unified perspective of flanking‐group engineering in Diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) based organic semiconductors that connects molecular‐level design with cross‐device functionalities. By integrating insights from molecular design, solid‐state packing, and device physics, this review seeks to establish general ...
