The extracellular matrix: A dynamic niche in cancer progression
The local microenvironment, or niche, of a cancer cell plays important roles in cancer development. A major component of the niche is the extracellular matrix (ECM), a complex network of macromolecules with distinctive physical, biochemical, and ...

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Apparent extracellular current density and extracellular space: basis for the current source density analysis in neural tissue [PDF]
This article provides a theoretical basis for relating macroscopic electrical signals recorded from biological tissue, such as electroencephalogram (EEG) and local field potential (LFP), to the electrophysiological processes at the cellular level in a manner consistent with Maxwell's equations. Concepts of the apparent extracellular current density and

Computing extracellular electric potentials from neuronal simulations [PDF]
Measurements of electric potentials from neural activity have played a key role in neuroscience for almost a century, and simulations of neural activity is an important tool for understanding such measurements. Volume conductor (VC) theory is used to compute extracellular electric potentials such as extracellular spikes, MUA, LFP, ECoG and EEG ...

Existence and uniqueness of global classical solutions to a two species cancer invasion haptotaxis model [PDF]
We consider a haptotaxis cancer invasion model that includes two families of cancer cells. Both families, migrate on the extracellular matrix and proliferate. Moreover the model describes an epithelial-to-mesenchymal-like transition between the two families, as well as a degradation and a self-reconstruction process of the extracellular matrix.

The Bone Extracellular Matrix in Bone Formation and Regeneration
Bone regeneration repairs bone tissue lost due to trauma, fractures, and tumors, or absent due to congenital disorders. The extracellular matrix (ECM) is an intricate dynamic bio-environment with precisely regulated mechanical and biochemical properties.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Extracellular Matrix (ECM) [PDF]
The region of space at the periphery of cyanobacterial cells is the interface between the environment and intracellular processes. This metaspace may include a structure appressed to the outer wall and membrane, such as an extracellular polysaccharide (EPS), a structural and/or physiological discontinuity in the control of flow metabolites, as well as ...

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a coenzyme for more than 500 enzymes, plays a central role in energy production, metabolism, cellular signaling, and DNA repair. Until recently, NAD+ was primarily considered to be an intracellular molecule (iNAD+
