Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Solving 1D crossing and QFT2/CFT1

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We provide an effective solution of the 1D crossing equation. We begin by arguing that crossing constraints can be recast in terms of bases of sum rules associated to special sets of CFT data — extremal solutions — which solve these constraints in a ...

Extremal solutions of quasilinear parabolic subdifferential inclusions

open access: yesDifferential and Integral Equations, 2003
The authors consider the following initial boundary value problem for the quasilinear parabolic inclusion: \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}+Au+\beta(\cdot,u)\ni Fu+h \quad {\text{in}} \;Q, \qquad u(x,0)=0\;{\text{in}}\;\Omega \quad{\text{and}}\;u=0\;{\text{on}}\;\Gamma, \] where \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^N\) is a bounded domain with Lipschitz ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Rotating black holes with equal-magnitude angular momenta in d=5 Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory

open access: yes, 2010
We construct rotating black hole solutions in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory in five spacetime dimensions. These black holes are asymptotically flat, and possess a regular horizon of spherical topology and two equal-magnitude angular momenta associated ...

Non-Extremal D-instantons and the AdS/CFT Correspondence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate non-extremal D-instantons in an asymptotically $ AdS_5 \times S^5$ background and the role they play in the $ AdS_5 / CFT_4$ correspondence.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Chaotic dynamics in extremal black holes: A challenge to the chaos bound

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We investigate chaotic dynamics in extremal black holes by analyzing the motion of massless particles in both Reissner–Nordström and Kerr geometries. Two complementary approaches (i) taking the extremal limit of non-extremal solutions and (ii) working ...

Radially Excited AdS5 Black Holes in Einstein–Maxwell–Chern–Simons Theory

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
In the large coupling regime of the 5-dimensional Einstein–Maxwell–Chern–Simons theory, charged and rotating cohomogeneity-1 black holes form sequences of extremal and non-extremal radially excited configurations.

Electromagnetic quasitopological gravities

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We identify a set of higher-derivative extensions of Einstein-Maxwell theory that allow for spherically symmetric charged solutions characterized by a single metric function f (r) = −g tt = 1/g rr .
