Photoelectron Counting in the Extreme Ultraviolet

Applied Optics, 1968
The experimental procedures required to operate windowless photomultiplier detectors as photon counters in the extreme uv (xuv) below wavelengths of about 1300 A are reviewed. The requirements for obtaining a well-defined counting plateau for the counting system under conditions of operation frequently met in laboratory vacuum systems are emphasized ...

The extreme ultraviolet explorer

Advances in Space Research, 1982
Abstract The Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE) Mission is described. The purpose of this mission is to search the celestial sphere for astronomical sources of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation (100–1000A). The search will be accomplished with the use of three EUV telescopes, each sensitive to different bands within the EUV band.

Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography

Applications of High Field and Short Wavelength Sources VII, 1997
Some of the highlights of the recent dramatic progress in the development of extreme ultraviolet lithography technology will be reviewed, with emphasis on the challenge of fabricating and testing a diffraction-limited optical imaging system at 13 nm wavelength.

Monochromator for the Extreme Ultraviolet

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1967
The off-plane Eagle mounting has distinct advantages over other types in the construction of grating monochromators for the extreme ultraviolet. A description is given of an adaptation of that principle, employing a Rowland grating movement and a simple drive mechanism to achieve good resolution with little mechanical complication. Differential pumping

Astrophysics in the Extreme Ultraviolet

1980
The current status of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) astrophysics is reviewed. Seven compact emitters of EUV radiation have been identified in the < 5% of the sky surveyed randomly so far and the existence of a diffuse EUV background firmly established. Our discussion will focus on the quality of astronomical information that can be gleaned from a combined ...

An extreme ultraviolet spectrometer

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
A concept and preliminary design of an Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) spectrometer is presented. The spectrometer is based on a gas ionization chamber and an advanced eight-electrode electron focusing system to form a narrow electron beam on a photodiode aperture. The design is modeled with the SIMulation of IONs (SIMION) tools and shows the ability to

Extreme Ultraviolet Astronomy

Scientific American, 1994
▪ Abstract Astronomical studies in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) band of the spectrum were dismissed during the early years of space astronomy as impossible, primarily because of the mistaken view that radiation in this band would be absorbed by the interstellar medium.
