Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Role of Starch Type in Gel-like Network Formation of Extruded Meat Analogs

open access: yesGels
Starches play a crucial role in determining the expansion, texture, and structural development of extruded meat analogs through their gelatinization behavior and interactions with proteins.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Effects of Isolated Pea Protein on Extrusion-Induced Gelation and Gel-like Network Formation in Low-Moisture Meat Analog Systems

open access: yesGels
Low-moisture meat analogs (LMMAs) typically exhibit highly expanded structures with large air cells, which differ from the dense and fibrous architecture observed in high-moisture systems. This study investigated the role of isolated pea protein (IPP) in

Study on adhesion mechanism of fouling organisms on marine steel surface based on inverted microscope [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Marine stainless steel is immersed in seawater for a long time, and its surface will inevitably adhere layer by layer to form biofilm, which will lead to microbial corrosion of the material.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Possibility of Isolated Mung Bean Protein as a Main Raw Material in the Production of an Extruded High-Moisture Meat Analog

open access: yesFoods
As consumer demand for meat analogs continues to grow, various plant proteins are being explored for their production. This study uses isolated mung bean protein (IMBP) to replace isolated soy protein (ISP), investigating the effects of IMBP content (0%,

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging
