Electromagnetic Near-Field Inhomogeneity Reduction for Image Acquisition Optimization in High-Resolution Multi-Channel Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
This paper is a study of the inhomogeneity reduction for near-field acquisition in high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. The acquisition homogeneity in MRI imaging modality is an open issue concerning the optimal MRI image generation ...

Computing Brane and Flux Superpotentials in F-theory Compactifications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In four-dimensional F-theory compactifications with N=1 supersymmetry the fields describing the dynamics of space-time filling 7-branes are part of the complex structure moduli space of the internal Calabi-Yau fourfold.

Constraints on Standard Model Constructions in F-theory

open access: yes, 2020
We argue that the following three statements cannot all be true: (i) our vacuum is a type IIB / F-theory vacuum at moderate-to-large $h^{1,1}$, (ii) the $\alpha'$-expansion is controlled via the supergravity approximation, à la the KKLT and LVS scenarios,

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

The gravitational sector of 2d (0, 2) F-theory vacua

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau fivefolds give rise to two-dimensional N = (0, 2) supersymmetric field theories coupled to gravity. We explore the dilaton supergravity defined by the moduli sector of such compactifications.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

On F-theory effective actions: From anomalies to Swampland

open access: yes, 2019
In this thesis we investigate general properties of four- and six-dimensional effective actions with minimal supersymmetry obtained from F-theory by compactification on Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

When rational sections become cyclic — Gauge enhancement in F-theory via Mordell-Weil torsion

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We explore novel gauge enhancements from abelian to non-simply-connected gauge groups in F-theory. To this end we consider complex structure deformations of elliptic fibrations with a Mordell-Weil group of rank one and identify the conditions under which
