F-theory Axiverse

open access: yes
We compute the couplings of Ramond-Ramond four-form axions in three ensembles of F-theory compactifications, with up to 181,200 axions. We work in the stretched Kähler cone, where $α'$ corrections are plausibly controlled, and we use couplings to certain non-Abelian sectors as a proxy for couplings to photons.

Saddle point inflation from f(R) theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We analyse several saddle point inflationary scenarios based on power-law f(R) models. We investigate inflation resulting from f(R)=R+αnM2(1−n)Rn+αn+1M−2nRn+1 and f(R)=∑nlαnM2(1−n)Rn as well as l→∞ limit of the latter. In all cases we have found relation

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

On the frozen F-theory landscape

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study 6d $$\mathcal{N}$$ = (1, 0) supergravity theories arising in the frozen phase of F-theory. For each of the known global models, we construct an F-theory compactification in the unfrozen phase with an identical non-abelian gauge algebra and ...

Deforestation displaced: trade in forest-risk commodities and the prospects for a global forest transition

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
While many developed countries are increasing their forest cover, deforestation is still rife in the tropics and subtropics. With international trade in forest-risk commodities on the rise, it is becoming increasingly important to consider between ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The toric SO(10) F-theory landscape

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Supergravity theories in more than four dimensions with grand unified gauge symmetries are an important intermediate step towards the ultraviolet completion of the Standard Model in string theory.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Twisted Fibrations in M/F-theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In this work we investigate 5-dimensional theories obtained from M-theory on genus one fibered threefolds which exhibit twisted algebras in their fibers.
