The 1-rotational Kirkman triple systems of order 33

open access: yes, 2000
We establish that there are exactly 500 KTS(33)s admitting an automorphism group fixing one point and acting regularly on the remainder; 436 are over the cyclic group while 64 are over the dicyclic group.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Insular cortex representation of dynamic mechanical allodynia in trigeminal neuropathic rats

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2009
Dynamic mechanical allodynia is a widespread symptom of neuropathic pain for which mechanisms are still poorly understood. The present study investigated the organization of dynamic mechanical allodynia processing in the rat insular cortex after chronic ...

To the treatment of an ingrown toenail. Danilyak (Zentralbl. F. Chir. 1929, No. 33)

open access: yesKazan medical journal, 1929
Danilyak (Zentralbl. F. Chir. 1929, No. 33) suggests, after complete or partial removal of the nail, carefully trim the nail bed with scissors and cover the still bleeding wound with several layers of sterile gauze and then a layer of cotton wool. On days 3-4, cotton wool and 2-3 upper layers of gauze are replaced.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Magneto-optical properties of InSb for terahertz applications

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
Magneto-optical permittivity tensor spectra of undoped InSb, n-doped and p-doped InSb crystals were determined using the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and the Fourier transform far-infrared spectroscopy (far-FTIR).

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
